What is Airbrush Foundation?

Airbrush1Airbrush foundation has been traditionally utilised in the art and special effects make-up world and is commonly used for high definition film.  Recently due to it’s perfect, smooth finish and long-wearing properties, the glamour and wedding industry has embraced it as the new ‘must-have’ for those wanting picture-perfection and endurance.

Airbrush foundation is a water-based or silicone-based makeup that is applied through an airbrush, using a small air compressor.  Application is a slightly cool, damp misting that dries relatively instantly as an even, flawless finish that feels quite light on the skin. Hailed as being extremely durable and non-transferable, this foundation is also perfect for battling the elements such as heat, humidity, and dancing the night away!

Airbrush foundation is suitable for most skin types, particularly oily or blemished skin, due to its coverage and being an alcohol-based product, is more drying on the skin.  Is not suitable for dry, mature or very sensitive skin types.

What should I choose - Airbrush or Traditional Foundation?

Airbrush2

It really depends on what ‘look’ you are trying to achieve for your special day!

Traditional make-up is softer, more natural-looking in person and generally has a more ‘illuminating’ or ‘dewy’ effect.

Airbrush foundation is a more matte finish and more drying on the skin.

When correctly applied by a professional utilising the correct products and layering effects, traditional make-up has much the same longevity and coverage as airbrush make-up, so really, the choice is yours!

There is a lot to consider in making this choice, so we would highly recommend discussing these options with your make-up artist at your trial appointment.  This gives your artist the opportunity to also make al personal skin analysis for you and give their professional opinion on not only what may look the best and feel the best, but what is the more suitable option for your particular skin type and condition!
